The History of Semen Padang

1910

PT Semen Padang was established on March 18, 1910, under the name NV Nederlandsch Indische Portland Cement Maatschappij (NV NIPCM), which was the first cement factory in Indonesia.

1958

Then, on July 5, 1958, the company was nationalized by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia from the Dutch Government. During this period, the company underwent a process of revival through the rehabilitation and capacity development of the Indarung I plant to 330,000 tons per year.

1995

The government consolidated three cement companies on September 15, 1995, through a Letter from the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia No. 5-326/MK.016/1995. These three cement companies were PT Semen Padang, PT Semen Gresik, Tbk, and PT Semen Tonasa. PT Semen Gresik, Tbk (Persero) was appointed as the parent holding company.

2013

On January 7, PT Semen Gresik, (Persero), Tbk transformed into the strategic holding company PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk.

2020

On February 11, 2020, PT Semen Indonesia (Persero), Tbk changed its company brand to SIG. In line with the company's vision, SIG continues to strive to be at the forefront of creating sustainable living, driving empowerment, and adopting digital technology to provide products and services according to consumer needs. SIG aims to be the leader of innovative, uptodate building material solutions and valuable in the regional area.
